In the year 1964, Cooch Behar Polytechnic was established in the Cooch Behar Town near Cooch Behar Palace and started a well to conduct three streams of Diploma-in-Engg. Course Viz., Civil, Electrical & Mechanical Engg., with total intake capacity of 90 (ninety) students in the 1st year class. Subsequently, in the year 1996-97, two additional Diploma Course Viz, Automobile Engg. and Pharmacy were introduced under World Bank Assisted Project whereupon total intake capacity of students increased from 90 to 280 and diff. Govt. Training Courses ( Community Development Through Polytechnic, EDP, VT etc.) for the development of Cooch Behar District.

Now, it is well known to all that the world has already switched over to the modern Technology resulting in incapacitation of a large section of people to usher in that latest Technology for the dearth of found. However, to keep pace with this ever changing system the Institute personal keenly interested in developing their Institutional Infrastructure at per the latest syllabi prepared by West Bengal State Council of Technical Education & Vocational Education & Skill Development with latest technology on the basis of industrial needs World-wide. Still, Institute lagging behind to accomplish this task purpose fully with the inadequate additional further Infrastructure
